As part of Minnesota Continuing Legal Education’s July 2020 Webcast Extravaganza, on July 30, 2020, Lenny Segal moderated a program on “Challenges in Starting Your Own Firm and How to Overcome Them.” Practicing law is very different from running a business. Yet, when starting a law firm, a lawyer needs to know how to do the latter (the former should be a given). This session, which consisted of a panel of lawyers who have “been there, done that,” provided attendees with a roadmap of challenges and opportunities they will face as they open their own firms. Those in the attendance were able to learn from both the successes of the panelists, as well as their mistakes.
